Honors & Awards

The Oklahoma Selfbow Society honors and awards program recognizes dedicated OSS Members who give freely of their time and expertise to fulfill the Society’s mission of preserving the heritage of primitive archery.

Our award recipients exemplify the best in constructing, teaching, and promoting primitive bows, arrows, and knapping stone tools.  Award categories include Volunteer Leader of the Year, Hall of Fame, and Master Bowyer.

Typically, OSS Board of Directors are not nominated for Volunteer of the Year as by their very positions these individuals expect to spend significant time supporting the mission.  Candidates for Master Bowyer are individuals who are well versed in the construction of a wide variety of bows and archery related equipment.  They also have a long history of teaching bow making at OSS events.  Hall of Fame candidates do not have to be bowyers, but they do have to be individuals with long-term service and dedication to the Society.

Anyone can nominate someone, but the nominees must be OSS members in good standing.  We encourage you to help us recognize those members by nominating them for an appropriate award.

Nominations will close on December 31,  2023.
